Welcome to gnuwav.com. My name is Shallana Edwards (pictured right with Oki, my brother's dog), and this is my website dedicated to my freelancing activities.

So you're probably wondering, how the heck do you pronounce my website? Well it's simple really - It's pronounced "NEW WAVE". Why call it GnuWav? Well, because I was a kid growing up in the 80's and was inspired by the music and the movies at the time. The 80's was a great era and since the URL's "newwave.com" and every other variation was taken (even gnuwave.com) I just went with the closest one available.

Gnuwav.com specializes in small business website design. I have a small pool of clients, who keep me busy, but if you're interested in my services and want to know more about how I can help make your business successful online, please email me.

My website design rates are pretty affordable and I work really fast, because I have no life! LOL! I work using CSS templates and from there I customize the site based on the specs given to me from my clients. I don't work in flash nor do I do shopping carts. The reason for this is I have a full time job that keeps me really busy and working with flash and shopping carts sites are labor intensive and would require a lot of my time. My philosophy is "keep it simple". And I do that with every job I take.

As much as I hate to boast, I'm pretty good at what I do and successful at it. Not to mention, I love what I do and passionate about this industry! I work full time for a great company that lets me handle their website development and marketing. I'm by no means a great website designer. In fact, I'm pretty average when it comes to design, but what I can do well is the marketing end of it.

Building a website is a 2 part strategy: First is the design and development. And second is the ongoing marketing & strategies that will help drive traffic. There are a lot of companies that promise you a beautiful website that will cost you $1000's of dollars. Sure it's pretty, but is it done well enough to get the relevant traffic you need? Is the site functional and easy to navigate? Are you employing the right strategies and best practices in keyword optimization?

What I can do is build a simple site that's functional and helps you get noticed on search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo. I employ a lot of strategies utilizing keyword optimization, strategic link building that have proven to make websites successful online. I work as a marketer, not a developer when I build sites. So you're site won't have a lot of crazy flash, music blaring and the like, but what you'll get is a clean, simple and effective site that will drive traffic and bring in customers!
